His Legacy…Joseph “Joe” Gerald Kennedy, 95, passed away July 10, 2021. He was born on January 15, 1926, in Carleton Place, Canada to Joseph and Mary (Killeen) Kennedy. Joe married the love of his life, Norma McKim, on October 9, 1954, in Carleton Place, Canada. Joe served in WWII in the Canadian Navy. After his service he worked in a funeral home. He started Kennedy Taxi Service in his hometown of Carleton Place, before selling the business to his brother and moving to the United States. Joe worked as a truck driver, moving steel for over 30 years. A fan of old classic country music, Joe knew many of the old songs, and artists from years ago. Johnny Cash was a favorite of his. Joe was a devout Catholic, who faithfully prayed the rosary. He will be remembered as a loving father, beloved grandfather, cherished great grandfather, and dear brother.
His Family… Joe will be missed by his children, Joe (Diane) Kennedy, Susan (Jerry Sams) Kennedy, John (Shelly) Kennedy; grandchildren, Jason, Katie, Tyler, Andrea, Brian, Adam, Jessica, Shannon, Kevin; great grandchildren, Nikayla, Hannah, Adalynn, Olivia, Jameson (on-the-way); 7 siblings, many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma, great grandson Aiden, and many of his siblings.
His Farewell… Joe’s family and friends will gather Thursday, July 15, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. (7:00pm rosary) at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. His Community Farewell will be held on July 16, 2021 at 1:00pm (12:00 pm gathering) for a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 9565 Musch Road, Brighton. Father John Rocas will serve as Presider. Interment Holy Spirit Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
