Judith Heinz Obituary

Judith Ann Heinz (née Hynes), age 69, of Brighton, Michigan, passed away on May 1, 2025 in Kauai, Hawaii. Judy was born to Mary Arlene (O’Bryan) and John (“Jack”) Paul Hynes in Detroit, Michigan, on August 1st, 1955. Growing up as one of seven children, Judy quickly found a love for caring for others that persisted throughout her life. She married her loving husband Jeffrey William Heinz on August 8, 1987, and she is the beloved mother to Erin Marie Lavey (Scott), Sarah Jane Williams (Chad), and Jeffrey Michael Heinz (Katie).

Judy always felt that her greatest achievements in life were her three children, though in truth her greatest achievements were her kindness and zest for life. Judy was a fierce advocate for her family, friends, as well as for her patients during her 40-year healthcare management career. It is hard to say which hobby Judy loved more - being a passionate world traveler (she had a particular fondness for protecting baby sea turtles on her many trips to the ocean), antiquing with her sister Jackie, or gardening with her husband at her side.

Being a grandmother and great-grandmother filled Judy’s heart with so much joy. Words cannot express the love she had for Rebekah Marie Bell (29), Lucianna Jane Lavey (21), Luke Oliver Lavey (19), Edward Michael Neumann (8), Estelle Jo Neumann (3), Jack William Heinz (3), Charles Douglas Heinz (2 mos.), and her first great-grandchild Aurora Jo Bell (3 mos.).

Judy was known for her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and wasting no time making friends wherever she went. She was a “yes” woman who loved adventure and exploring new places and experiences. Throughout her life Judy put her family’s needs before her own, making sacrifices to ensure her tribe was taken care of. Although she was taken from us far too early, we will be at peace knowing she lived a full life surrounded by the ones she loved most.

She is survived by her siblings, Arlene Susan Malkowski (Jim), Robey William Hynes, Joel Lee Hynes (Bridgett), Jacqueline Zaplitny (Bryan) and by her father and mother-in-law, Bill and Diane Heinz, sister-in-law Jackie Holcomb (Bryan).

Preceded in death by her father, John Paul, her mother, Mary Arlene, her brother, Christopher John and her sister, Gail Jo.
