Judith Wolff Obituary

Wolff, Judith

Whitmore Lake, MI

Her Legacy… Judith Lee Wolff nee Head, born February 19, 1939, joined her sisters and youngest son in heaven worshipping Jesus on July 14, 2026. Raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Judith was the first in her family to join the church. One Sunday she saw tall, dark and handsome Robert Edwin Wolff and knew she’d marry him. She was right. They were married on February 23, 1957, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Judy and Bob moved frequently for his Navy career. Even through all the moving around, Judy opened her heart and home to her family. She briefly returned to her parent’s home to care for her mother during her cancer fight. After coming back home, she took in other family members and cared for them during various illnesses. Her care reached beyond her family as well. When Hurricane Katrina struck down south, she and Bob loaded up their camper with supplies, and lived for weeks alongside the recovery efforts.

Judy was known as the family historian. She loved sharing snippets of family stories: the ancestor who married Abe Lincoln to his wife, the Scandinavian royalty connection, descent from the same family as Ann Boleyn, and ancestors John and Pricilla Alden’s journey on the Mayflower.

Judy’s remembered by her family for her flower and vegetable gardens-which often graced the dining table. Heirloom tomatoes seasoned with salt, homemade mint sweet tea from her garden, and fresh spring asparagus. Cherry pies from their cherry trees. Her lemon meringue pies rarely made it through the night without Bob stealing each and every toasted peak. Agatha Christie marathons were sweetened by her homemade tapioca pudding. But Judy’s Christmas traditions may outweigh all others- cardamom spiced milk chai with her frosted cardamom rolls feature in nearly every Christmas celebration.

Judy claimed to be math-illiterate, but her cooking, knitting and sewing beg to differ. Her brilliant afghans grace family couches, her scarves wait for winter to hug their necks, her doilies grace end tables, along with her crocheted hot pads on kitchen counters; all her brilliant kinetic understanding of math.

Judy was adored by her family, and they will miss weekends full of homemade food, outside exploration, sewing lessons, Kohl’s clearance rack shopping runs and chess.

Her Family… Judy will be missed by her husband of sixty-nine years, Robert Wolff; her children, Robert Edwin (Berri) Wolff Jr., Karen Lee (Paul) Wilt, Leeann Carla (Miguel) Betancourt; grandchildren, Noah (Stephanie) Wolff, Jared Wolff, Nathan Wolff, Christiana (Curt) Doucette, Melissa Wolff, PJ (Juli) Wilt, Katie (Matt) Ashley, John (Ashley) Wolff, Justin (Carol) Wilt, Mike (Lauren) Betancourt, Robbie (Amelia) Wolff III, Jenna (Emerson) Barmes, Tim (Bekah) Betancourt, Christian (Shallyn) Wilt; and 40 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, E. Lee and Lorene Head; son, John David Wolff; and sisters, Norma and Sandy.
