His Legacy… Karl E. Joss, 90, passed away March 14, 2025.  He was born on February 22, 1935, in Mishawaka, Indiana, to Frank Joss and Helen (Dewald) Joss. Karl married the love of his life, Shirley Stedman, on October 13, 1956, in South Bend, Indiana.   He will be remembered for being devoted to his faith and his family. Teaching his children to tackle new things and having a “can-do” attitude was important to Karl. He loved to serve others which showed by 65 years of working with St. Vincent De Paul. Karl led an active life participating with his children in 4H and playing cards with his family. Karl spent 30 years working for General Motors starting in tool and die, and working his way into design and management. He retired at age 57 and spent his golden years traveling the world with his beloved wife, Shirley and living in Florida. Karl was an avid golfer and even got a “hole in one” five different times. He loved to fish and did not even mind cleaning them if he got to share in the eating.  He will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him.

His Family… Karl will be missed by his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley Joss; brother-in-law, Bill Stedman; his devoted children, Kurt (Kerry) Joss, Christopher (Kristin) Joss, Kathleen (Leigh) Berger, Karol (Matt) Holzhei; grandchildren, Layne, Leah, Rachael, Michael, Anne, Kate, Emily, Evan, Trent, Luke, Jake; 9 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen Joss.

His Farewell… Karl’s Community Farewell will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 (10:00 AM Gathering) 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Howell, Michigan. Father Francis George will serve as celebrant.
