His Legacy… Kenneth Lee Adkins, 70, passed away February 1, 2021. He was born on July 31, 1950, in Pikeville, Kentucky to Sidney Adkins and Nevel (Roberts) Adkins. Kenneth married the love of his life, Sue (Bendis) Adkins, on July 8, 1972 in Flushing, Michigan. Kenneth’s number one priority in his life was his family and he especially loved spending time with his Grandchildren. One of his favorite past times with his wife Sue, was cuddling and eating his favorite chocolate pie. He loved to throw huge parties with sometimes over 200 guests and was the grand master of the pig roasts! Along with being an amazing host he also enjoyed teaching and running the Apprenticeship Program at Roofers Union Local 70. When Kenneth wasn’t spending time with family he was a passionate outdoors man, spending time four wheeling, and snowmobiling. Also a passionate hunter often traveling to Canada to hunt deer and bear. Kenneth truly enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a huge Jeff Gordon fan. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.
His Family… Ken is survived by his children, Julia Adkins, (Tyric Thomas), Kendra (Joseph II.) Giess, and Jennifer (Rico) Garcia, Chrissy (Brian) Walter; his siblings, Donnie (Ellen), Rubi (Blackie), Phyllis, Linda, Lynda, Linda (Ron), Nina (Calvin), Sam (Tom), Leon, Glenn, and Doug; Dorothy; siblings in law, Gerald (Elaine) Bendis, Agnes (Ron) Taylor, and JoAnne (Bob) Petrowski; his grandchildren, Austin, Blaik, Landon, and Ysabella and great-grandchild Angus; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Sue (Bendis) Adkins, siblings Cletus, Larry, Jimmy, Charles, Sid, Glenda and Wayne.
His Farewell… Kenneth’s family and friends will gather on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel for a community gathering from 2:00pm to 8:00pm. His Community Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Brighton Michigan at 11:00am followed by service at 12:00pm. Fr. John Rocus will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Disabled Veterans of America.
