His Legacy… Ken Smith, age 83, passed away on October 21, 2023. His life’s journey began on April 24, 1940 in Detroit, MI. Born to Clinton and Evelyn Smith. Ken graduated from Redford High School and served in the US Air Force Intelligence in Texas and Okinawa from 1963 to 1967. He began his airline career at BOAC Airlines and later with Varig Brazilian Airlines as District Sales Manager in the Detroit office serving Michigan and Ohio. He also served as President of the local SKAL chapter, a professional organization of tourism leaders around the world promoting global tourism and friendship. He married his wife, Linda (Whitley) Smith in April 1973 and had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They moved to Huntington Woods, MI. Ken and Linda lived there for 13 years where they had two sons, David and Jason. In 1986 they moved to Farmington Hills, MI where they lived and raised their family for 20 years. In 2005, when he retired, they started building their dream lakefront home in Pinckney, MI. In the fall of 2006 they moved to Pinckney where they currently live.
His Family…He leaves behind his wife Linda, sons David and Jason (Sarah) and his 4 grandchildren - Colton, Connor, Brady and Josephine. He was preceded in death by his parents Clinton and Evelyn, his sister Constance and her husband, Neville Geake.
His Farewell… Ken’s family and friends will gather for a Memorial Service on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 11:00AM (10AM gathering), at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, 250 N. Mill Street, Pinckney, Michigan. Pastor Brian Tweedie will serve as celebrant. His burial will follow at Pinckney Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
