Nicholas, Laverne
Hamburg, MI
Her Legacy… Laverne Rose Nicholas, 97, passed away June 17, 2026. She was born on June 23, 1928, in Pollard, Arkansas to Ralph Trout and Rose (Tanner) Trout. On January 14, 1946, Laverne married the love of her life, Earl Nicholas, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned many years. She had a career in administration at the University of Michigan, where she later retired. Laverne liked to stay busy and worked part-time at the Hamburg Pharmacy until the age of 85, a testament to her independent spirit. Laverne had a passion for travel and enjoyed exploring the world. Her adventures took her to destinations including Ireland, London, Europe, and Jerusalem, among many others. During the winter months, she and Earl looked forward to spending time in Texas, escaping Michigan’s cold weather and creating cherished memories together. In her free time, Laverne enjoyed quilting and working on puzzles. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who took great care of her beloved family. Laverne was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
Her Family… Laverne will be missed by her children, Jerry (Karen Anne) Nicholas, Gary (Mary Jo) Nicholas, Barry Nicholas; siblings, Don (Julia) Trout, Janice (Jim) Chandler; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
