Lawrence Earl Baughn Jr., 78, of Decatur Tennessee, passed away June 20, 2025 at home with his family surrounding him.  He was born on March 10, 1947, in Byron, Michigan to Lawrence Earl Baughn Sr. and Eleanor (Latimer) Baughn. Lawrence married the love of his life, Sandra Walter, on December 28, 1980, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Lawrence will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.

Major Lawrence E. Baughn Jr retired after a distinguished 20 year career in the U.S. Air Force.  He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge in both Pinckney, MI and Lynchburg, TN.  He was an avid horseman, golfer, and legendary storyteller. 

Lawrence will be missed by his beloved wife of 45 years, Sandy Baughn. Together they built a life full of love, laughter, and memories. He was a loving and devoted parent to Scott (Christi) Baughn of Clayton, NY; Dionetta (Rick) Gagnon of Brookline, NH; Angela (Brian) Flanders of Southern Pines, NC; Samantha (Brian) Lalik of Manlius, NY; Anthony (Linda) Baughn of Eagen, MN; Stephanie Baughn of Decatur, TN; Tiffaney (Nicholas) Irving of Decatur, TN. A loving brother of Susan (Joe) Holtz of Pinckney, MI and Brian Baughn of Lewiston, MI.  He cherished his role as a grandfather to 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence Baughn Sr and Eleanor (Latimer) Baughn, his infant son James Baughn, and his daughter Dionetta (Baughn) Gagnon.

Lawrence’s family and friends will gather Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 11:00AM-12:00PM, at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Shelters Chapel. His Community Farewell will follow at 12:00PM. Pastor Dan Quagliata will serve as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project, a cause dear to his heart.
