Hammond, Lillian Jean
Howell, Michigan
Lillian Jean Hammond passed peacefully at home on Wednesday December 23, 2020.
Jean was born on January 26 1933 in Detroit Michigan to Ellen Kimball. She was active in her church, St. Joseph of Howell. Enjoyed the Howell senior center and activities with her Young at Heart group. Jean deeply loved Bingo (and had a menagerie of paraphernalia in her bingo bag to prove it), music (especially the one and only Celine Dion), and her “pet” possum that she shared her dinner scraps with nightly. Her heart was endlessly giving and there are many charities that will also feel her loss.
She is proceeded in death by her husband William Hammond, sister, Charlotte Rafalski and mother Ellen Szabo. Survived by her children Joel Adkins, Marsha Bartley and Sharon Martinsky (Ron Martinsky SIL). Her grandchildren Jessica Bartley-Harrison (husband Dave Harrison), Kelsey Rau and Marissa Rau, and great grandchild Roland Houghtby.
She instilled and nurtured a love of horses in her children and grandchildren and remained involved in their pursuits always. She was a cherished member of her community and will be greatly missed by many, especially her family.
Jean’s family and friends will gather for her Memorial Mass on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11:00AM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Howell, MI. Father Gary Koenigsknecht will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to the church. Please leave a message of comfort to Jean’s family by calling 1.877.231.7900 or sign her guestbook at borekjennings.com
