Her Legacy… Lona Rachel Haynes, 88, passed away on July 15th, 2026. She was born on September 24th, 1937, in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Wallace and Edith (Lace) Jayne. Lona married her beloved, Jack Haynes, on March 24th, 1955, in Angola, Indiana. Lona was well known for her love for her family, friends and everyone she met. Nothing brought Lona more happiness than spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family will forever cherish the memories, traditions, laughter and unconditional love she shared. Though our hearts are broken the family finds comfort in the knowledge that we will all be together once again. She faithfully served her community as a rural postal carrier with the Pinckney Post Office for more than 28 years, proudly delivering U.S. Mail Route #1 through every season and every challenge. Known for saying she carried the route "to hell and back," she approached her work with dedication, resilience, and a smile. After retiring in 1998, Lona devoted herself to the things she loved most, her family, quilting, and tending to her beautiful flowers. She also found great joy in giving back to her community as a mentor at Pinckney Elementary and Farley Hills Elementary, where she volunteered for many years. The relationships she built with the children she encouraged and supported became one of the greatest sources of pride in her life.
Her Family… Lona will be missed by her daughters; Marilyn (Richard) Glowacki, Joanne (Barry) Maus, Susan (Norman) Oleski and son Jack (Pam) Haynes. Sister; Linda Bell and many brothers and sisters-in-laws. Grandchildren; Emily, Jessica, Ryan, Becca, Heather, Megan, Jack, Justin, Thomas, Nolan, Kendal. Great grandchildren; Carter, Eleanor, Walter, John, Sam, Bexlee, Lily, Zinnia, Avery and Evelyn. Along with beloved nieces and nephews and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Jack D. Haynes, brother George Jayne, sister Janice Leafer, son-in-law Barry Maus.
