Mac Lipon Jr. Obituary

His Legacy… Mac Edward Lipon Jr, 89, passed away on November 15, 2025.  He was born on December 09, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, to Mac and Catherine (Wasunyk) Lipon. Mac married the love of his life, Marlene Kosakiewicz, on November 3, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan. He will be remembered as a driven and community-minded entrepreneur, owning several of his own companies, including Lipon’s Sporting Goods and Superior Screen Printing. A pioneer of youth sports in the area, Mac brought hockey to Livingston County at a time when resources and coaching were scarce. He helped establish the Livingston County Hockey Association and proudly served as its first president. In that inaugural year, the association played its very first season on the Mill Pond in Brighton before eventually moving to the Nordic Ice Arena, in Hartland, Michigan.

Although he dedicated much of his life to hockey, Mac’s true sporting love was baseball. He was an exceptional player, talented enough in his youth to play professionally.

Mac was an honest, generous, and genuine gentleman who loved deeply and cherished his faith. He recognized God's presence in the many blessings of his life. Beloved by all, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

His Family… Mac will be missed by his loving wife, Marlene Lipon; his children, Mitchell (Suzanne) Lipon, Mark (Dr. Doreen) Lipon, Dr. Maxine (Steven McKinnon) Lipon D.O, Matthew (Beth) Lipon; siblings, Dr. John Lipon and Patricia Tepper; grandchildren, Paul (Holly) Lipon, Kayla (Jason) Freeman, Neil (Tamara) Lipon, Eric (Ellie) Lipon, Nick (Shannon) Lipon, Alec (Julia) Lipon, Nathan Lipon, Brenden (MacKenzie) Lipon, Nicole (Spencer VanEpps) Lipon, Olivia (Brooks) Bonar; 15 great grandchildren and two more are expected; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Mac and Catherine Lipon and his daughter, Michelle Lipon.
