Her Legacy… Marilyn Frances Phillips, age 98, passed away on March 14, 2026. She was born on October 18, 1927, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Elbert Queen and Nellie (Taft) Queen. On June 6, 1947, Marilyn married the love of her life, Kenneth Phillips, in Detroit, Michigan. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and determination. Marilyn will be remembered as a caring woman with strong convictions who was never afraid to stand up for others. She possessed a brilliant and practical mind, which she used to design the family home she and her husband later built in Livonia, a forward-thinking accomplishment for her time. She continually worked to provide the best life possible for her children and grandchildren. Marilyn had a deep love for animals and enjoyed spending her time solving all kinds of puzzles and watching game shows. Her strength, intelligence, and devotion to her family will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Her Family… Marilyn will be missed by her children, Beverly Phillips, Pamela (Ric) Jones; grandchildren, Jennifer Jaeger, Errick Phillips, Jacqueline (Matthew) Kuschel, Rachel Jones (Christian Henes); great grandchildren, Katelyn, Abigail, Eleanor, Theodore, Henry; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Kenneth Phillips; son, Richard Phillips; parents, Elbert and Nellie Queen; siblings, Robert Queen, Gladys Harper.
Her Farewell… Marilyn’s family and friends will gather at 10:00 am, until the time of her Community Farewell at 11:00 am, on Friday, March 20, 2026 at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Howell, Michigan. Pastor Doug McMunn will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to Boys Town of Nebraska.
