On Friday, January 27, 2023, Marvin Darrell Bryant, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 75.
Marv was born on September 14, 1947, in Jackson, Kentucky to Romie and Pauline Bryant Pennington. He served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970, before becoming an automobile mechanic. Marv loved to reinvent himself, he eventually became a steam fitter for the University of Michigan before retiring as a Fire Inspector for the University. He married Diane Dietrich on October 15, 1977, they raised two sons, Tim and Chris, before divorcing. On August 27, 2005, Marv married Kathryn Gregg.
Marv was an incredible storyteller and he loved to tell his stories to anybody with an open ear. One of his favorites was the story of his dog Bingo and how she loved to catch snakes. He also loved making friends. The only friends that he did not have were the ones he had not met yet. Marv loved working with his hands, especially with wood. He could be found during his spare time out in his garage workshop, making sawdust, nearly every day of the year. Marv was also very proud of his boys and would tell anybody willing to listen all about them. He was most proud of the time they spent playing music together and was always very encouraging in their musical endeavors.
He loved being an uncle and beamed whenever he spoke about his nephew McKenzie. Most of all he loved being a grandfather to his five grandchildren Aiden, Tenley, Declan, Annalisa, and Phoenix.
Marv was preceded in death by his father, Romie, and his stepfather Calvin. He is survived by his wife Kathryn, his mother Pauline, his two children, Tim (Alisha) and Chris (Delina), his sister Patricia Bryant Walsh (Mark) son McKenzie, and several cousins, and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023, at Borek Jennings Funeral Home in Hamburg, Michigan, at 2:00PM.
