Her Legacy… Mary Sandra Cowper, 85, passed away March 12, 2023.  She was born on October 15, 1937, in Port Huron, Michigan, to Raymond Thomas McCarthy and Helen Viola (Murphy) McCarthy. Mary married the love of her life, Jack Cowper, on August 8, 1956, in Angola, Indiana. Mary graduated from St. Stevens High School in Port Huron, Michigan. She went on to Port Huron Jr. College, and then received her Bachelor’s degree from Saginaw Valley State University. Mary worked as a staff supervisor at Ameritech for 30 years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Toastmasters. Mary was an active member of Shalom Lutheran Church; she was involved with the Women of Shalom and the out-to-lunch-bunch. She enjoyed activities at the Pinckney Senior Center. Mary was very intelligent, witty and outgoing. She was a huge fan of JFK. Mary loved to knit, listen to 50’s music and play cards. Her favorite pastime was sitting by the pool, reading a book. Mary loved to travel, her favorite trip was to Hawaii. Mary was adored by her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  

Her Family… Mary will be missed by her husband, Jack Cowper; her children, Michael Cowper, Mark Cowper, Martin Cowper, Marvin (Carla) Cowper, Matthew (Gemma) Cowper; grandchildren, Tabbatha (Marc) Witt, Matthew Kane (Jamie) Cowper, Cinamon Didomenico, Jack Cowper, Marcus (Jessica) Cowper, Austen Cowper, Daniel Cowper, Raymond Cowper; and 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Helen McCarthy.

Her Farewell… Mary’s family and friends will gather Thursday, March 16, 2023, from 5PM-8PM, at Shalom Lutheran Church, Pinckney, Michigan. Her Community Farewell will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 12:00PM (11AM gathering), at Shalom Lutheran Church, Pinckney, Michigan. Pastor Dan Quagliata will serve as celebrant.
