Her Legacy… Mary Louise Smith, 76, passed away December 30, 2025. She was born on July 15, 1949, in Howell, Michigan to Gerald F. Jones and Doris (Raymer) Jones. Mary married the love of her life, Donald A. Smith, in 1971 in Howell, Michigan. She will be remembered as a kind and caring woman who lived life to the fullest. Beloved by her coworkers, she worked for the state of Michigan as an accountant where she was always the life of the party and a jokester. She, along with her husband, loved to camp, travel, and spent over 20 years as members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. When she wasn’t on the road, she spent her time close to home in Howell, where she lived for the majority of her life. Mary loved spending time with her family and her dogs, and she’d spend free days surrounded by them while rooting for the Detroit tigers or the Spartans. Her greatest joy was going to church and spending time with her St. Joseph Catholic Church family. Even when she was unable to attend in person, she would watch along on TV, pray, and have meaningful encounters with God every day.
Her Family… Mary will be missed by her son, Brandon Smith; stepchildren, Deborah (Jim) Cain and Stacey (Cyrus) Waldron; 4 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Smith; stepchild Darla (John) Hall; siblings, Betty Burton, Nancy Jones, Bob Jones, Ed Jones, and Paul Jones; nephew Todd Jones.
