Her Legacy… Mary Ellen Towles, 92, passed away April 15, 2024.  She was born on May 12, 1931, in Fairmont, West Virginia to Joseph Nichols and Daisy Bell (Glasscock) Nichols. Mary married the love of her life, Robert Lee Towles on November 18, 1948, in Fairmont, West Virginia. Mary was a member of Hiawatha Bible Church since 1973. She was a volunteer with Awana for many years. Mary taught Sunday school and organized many of the children’s Christmas parties and crafts. Mary loved children and often watched the children in her neighborhood when they were out of school. She was known to many as “Grandma Mary”. Mary was very creative and enjoyed making quilts. She gave many quilts as gifts over the years and put a lot of love into them. Mary was a wonderful cook and baker, everything she made was from scratch. She had a heart of gold and always found the good in people. Mary was a wonderful caretaker to her family. Mary was a joy to know and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Her Family… Mary will be missed by her children, Rickie Ray (Carol) Towles, Robert Allen (Sue) Towles, Esther Marie (Gary) Smith, Timothy Wayne (Pat) Towles; Brian Keith Towles; sister, Barbara Jarvis; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Towles; parents, Joseph and Daisy Nichols; infant son, Robert Lee Towles Jr.; daughter, Belinda Kay Brown Towles; brothers, Joe Nichols and Paige “Buck” Carlton Nichols; sisters, Mildred Boyer and Bertha May Allen; granddaughter, Felicia Towles; and grandson, Corey Towles.

Her Farewell… Mary’s family and friends will gather on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 4PM-8PM at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. Her Community Farewell will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00AM (10AM gathering), at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. Pastor Jerry Wichert will serve as celebrant.
