MaryAnn Romalia Obituary

Her Legacy… MaryAnn Romalia, 86, passed away on July 15th, 2026.  She was born on July 6th, 1940, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Jacob and Catherine (Cermak) Strackbein. MaryAnn married the love of her life, Robert Romalia, on April 23rd,1966, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. MaryAnn was the middle child and helped care for her younger sisters from an early age. She graduated from Menomonie Falls High School and went on to attend Milwaukee County Nursing School (now Milwaukee School of Engineering), graduating with honors. She once considered becoming a flight attendant and applied but was unable to pursue the role due to height requirements at the time. She began her career in the mental health ward at Milwaukee County Institutions, where she quickly advanced to a management role. During this time, she met her husband, Bob, through a mutual friend. They were married in 1966. After the birth of their first son, Bart, MaryAnn became a stay-at-home mother. In 1986, the family moved to Brighton. MaryAnn enjoyed baking, canning, crafting, and gardening, and was known for sharing what she did with others. She also volunteered for many years at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Brighton. She especially valued time with her family and took great pride in her role as a grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, making crafts, and attending her granddaughter Grace’s school plays and Violin concerts. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Her Family… MaryAnn will be missed by her sons; Bart (Erin) and Brad (Debra); sisters; Barbara Schultz, Carol Strackbein, and Louise Lemke. Granddaughter; Grace. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Romalia; her parents, Jacob and Catherine Strackbein; and her sister, Rosemary Flueckiger

Her Farewell… MaryAnn’s family and friends will gather on Monday July 27th, from 9:30AM-10:30AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Brighton Michigan. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday July 27th, at 10:30AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Brighton Michigan.  Fr. Peter Randolph will serve as celebrant.
