Her Legacy… Mary Ann Romanowski, 91, passed away October 30, 2020.  She was born on August 15, 1929, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Joseph and Helen (Marek) Koleczek. Mary Ann married the love of her life, Daniel Romanowski, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She will be remembered as a loving mother, beloved grandmother, and dear great grandmother. Faith was very important to Mary Ann. She was a very devout Catholic and dedicated herself to serving her Lord. Mary Ann was known as “the Church Lady,” as she was committed to St. Alphonsus Parish. As the Religious Education Coordinator, Mary Ann, directed the scheduling of classes and teachers, as well as the procurement of materials. Mary Ann also coordinated funerals and luncheons at the church. Her late husband, Daniel, and she would clean the church as well. Mary Ann, prayed often, praying the Rosary daily. She was involved in various groups and activities at the parish, including the Young at Heart group, the Ladies Auxiliary Society, and book clubs. Daniel and Mary Ann were married for over 45 years, and had a beautiful family together. Mary Ann was a devoted homemaker and mother. She loved knitting, especially making blankets and rugs, many of which were donated to overseas missions. She enjoyed gardening, grew both flowers, and vegetables. Mary Ann enjoyed “going for a ride” to the casino. Her family will miss her sense of humor, easy going personality, peaceful nature, generous spirit, and the inspiring way she lived by her Christian values. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.

Her Family… Mary Ann will be missed by her children, Diana (David) Deitz, Chrissy (Ed) Turek, MaryJo (John) Yowaish; daughter-in-law, Mary Romanowski; grandchildren, Sierra, Bryson, Spencer, Eddie, AJ, Tommy, Lizzy, Danny, John, Nicole, Amy; and 7 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Romanowski; son, David, infant son, Joseph; siblings, Frank Koleczek, John Koleczek, and Eleanor Holmes.

Her Farewell… Mary Ann’s family and friends will gather Thursday, November 5, 2020, from 5-9 p.m., at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020, 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Parish, Grand Rapids, Michigan, until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. Rev. Rick Potts and Rev. Chung Tran will serve as celebrants.
