His Legacy… Matthew Jay Helms, 37, passed away October 21, 2020. He was born on March 4, 1983 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He enjoyed target shooting and enjoyed participating in many competitions. He loved spending time with his friends and family and his four dogs, Thomas, Nala, Stoney & Piper, and had a great fondness for animals. Matthew was a self-taught software developer and was always striving to learn and acquire new skills. He was a firearms instructor and owned his own company, DoubleStack Defense. He was an active member of the Livingston Conservation and Sportsmen Association (LCSA), serving as a board member and webmaster. When he was not working he enjoyed traveling, one of his favorite places to visit being Hawaii. He will truly be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
His Family… Matthew will be missed by his mother, Sherry (Henderson) Helms; sister Shannon (Wes) Bancroft; his beloved girlfriend, Nicole Gibson, nephews, Grayson and Callen Bancroft; and niece, Adleigh Bancroft; grandmother, Ann Marie Henderson; uncle, Bill (Jane) Henderson; aunt, Gretchen Helms; cousins, Jack Henderson and Caroline Henderson. He is preceded in death by his father, Eric Jay Helms.
His Farewell… Matthew’s community farewell will be held Sunday, October 25, 2020 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel.
