His Legacy… Michael Warren Godfrey, 76, passed away on February 3, 2026. He was born on May 3, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, to Ralph Godfrey and Alfreda (McKenzie) Godfrey. Michael was a proud 1967 graduate of Detroit-Redford High School. On January 14, 1983, in Dearborn, Michigan, he married the love of his life, Wendy Kaltz, with whom he shared 43 wonderful years of marriage.
Michael will be remembered for his thoughtful, intelligent, and calming presence. Always thinking ahead, he possessed a creative mind that served him well in his career as a project director showcasing vehicles for auto shows, where he was highly respected for his talent and vision. Michael was known for his positive outlook, quick wit, and memorable dad jokes and one-liners. He had a special gift for finding humor in difficult moments and bringing a lighthearted perspective to any situation. He was a proud member of the Carpenters Union and played bagpipes with Metro Detroit Police and Fire Pipes and Drums Band. Dedicated to serving his community, Michael volunteered with the Livingston County DART team alongside his wife, Wendy, providing refreshments and comfort to first responders at any hour, day or night.
His Family… Michael will be missed by his loving wife, Wendy Godfrey; his children, Chad (Cadie) Godfrey, Paige (Denis) Pendrick, Taylor Godfrey; Aaron (Paula) Godfrey, Kenzie Godfrey, Andrew Godfrey, Morgan Crafton; Brother, Mark (Traci) Godfrey; numerous loving grandchildren that brought joy to his heart; along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Alfreda Godfrey; sister, Sandra Sanderson.
His Farewell… Michael’s family and friends will gather 2-8pm, Friday, February 6, 2026 at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Howell, Michigan. His Community Farewell will be held on 11:00 AM (10:00 AM Gathering), Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Borek Jennings Funeral Homes, Howell. Bob Funaro will serve as celebrant.
