Michael Onderchanin

Michael “Mike” Onderchanin, 69, passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, May 8, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Marty, and his twin sisters.

Mike is survived by and was the devoted husband of Irene; cantankerous brother of Maribeth (Tim); the beloved father of Steph and Nicole (Dan); and the proud “Papa” of Hank and Lark. Those who knew him will remember him being as clever as he was tenderhearted, possessing of a pithy charm.

Whether he was working on an engine, cooking in excess for his family, or weaving together a story, his hands and heart were always busy. Above all, he was happiest when doting upon his grandchildren.

We are immeasurably saddened by his loss, but invite you to join us in celebrating a life lived with love, faith, commitment to family, and of course, heaps of humor.

Mike’s family and friends will gather on Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Borek Jennings Funeral Homes in Howell, Michigan. Gathering will continue on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 10:00AM, followed immediately by a Panachida Memorial Service at 11:00AM. Father Andrew Yavornitzky will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Immigrant Resource Center, the American Cancer Society, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
