Her Legacy… Michaelina Cecelia Brown, 80, passed away September 24, 2022. She was born on July 15, 1942, in Toronto, Canada to Michael Kosiba and Mary (Stuka) Kosiba. Michaelina married the love of her life, John Brown, on October 24, 1970, in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Michaelina attended Sacred Heart Academy, Loretto Catholic Central High School and the University of St. Catherine in St. Paul Minnesota. She was a long time employee of Detroit Public Library and upon her retirement, worked at Chelsea District Library until her retirement in 2012. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dexter Michigan, Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, One Hundred Women and PEO Chapter CM. Michaelina will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her Family…Michaelina will be missed by her husband, John Brown; her children, Stephanie (David) Baird, Katie (Gretchen) Torrison, John Michael (Angie) Brown; sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Sutherland, Carolina Keating, Susan Penrose; grandchildren, Morgen Baird, Spencer Baird, Hunter Baird; step-grandchildren, Piper Torrison, and Carlos Ritchie. She is preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary Kosiba, and brother Edward Kosiba.
Her Farewell… Michaelina’s family and friends will gather Friday, September 30, 2022, 5 to 8PM (Scripture Service 7PM) at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. Her Community Farewell will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, 11AM (10AM Gathering) Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Village Church, 3430 Dover St. Dexter, with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. Fr. Brendan Walsh, presider. Memorial contributions are suggested to His Eye is on the Sparrow.
