Her Legacy… Monica Theresa Rais, 93, passed away November 9, 2023 at Providence Hospital in Novi, Michigan. She was born on March 29, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan to Anthony Hibbeln and Gertrude (Andres) Hibbeln. Monica married the love of her life, Richard H. Rais, on September 29, 1951, in Dearborn, Michigan. Monica took great joy in being a homemaker, she was a wonderful wife and mother. She was a devout Catholic and prayed the rosary three times a day. Monica was an active parishioner at St. Aloysius in Hickory, North Carolina for the last 40 years. She had a big heart for volunteer work and was more concerned about others than herself. Monica was very outgoing, and made friends easily with her sweet personality and very positive attitude. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was so proud of all of them. Monica was a joy to know and will be missed deeply by her family and friends.

Her Family… Monica will be missed by her children, David (Paula) Rais, Mark Rais, Mike (Beth) Rais, Pat (Cathy) Rais, Marie (Bill) Mackie, Christine (Steven) Simmons; grandchildren, Katherine (Sean), Christine (Bryan), Jacqueline (Mark), Sarah, Jessica (Jim), Terri (Jeremy), Steve, Dan (Taylor), Jason (Jessica), Nicholas (Rebecca), Stephanie (Matt), Rob, Chuck;  15 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Jerry Bernard and Tom (Kathy) Rais. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Rais; parents, Anthony and Gertrude Hibbeln; siblings, Betty Sierant, Richard Hibbeln, Rita Long, Charles Hibbeln, Raymond Hibbeln, and Donnie Hibbeln.

Her Farewell… Monica’s family and friends will gather Monday, November 13, 2023, from 3:00PM-8:00PM (6PM Rosary), at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel in Hamburg, Michigan. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 2:00PM, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Brighton, Michigan.  Father John Rocus will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Hickory, North Carolina.
