Her Legacy... Nellie Anna Gwozdek, of Saline, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the age of 95. Born Nellie Anna Paltz on January 16, 1930, she was a woman defined by her strong will, independence, and an immense capacity for love, which she expressed most profoundly through her cooking.
Nellie spent her early years in a way that forged her resilient spirit, losing both of her parents at the tender age of seven. This early hardship instilled in her a determination that guided her throughout her life. She was an independent woman who knew what she wanted and possessed the tenacity to accomplish any goal she set forth.
One of her first jobs was as an Egg Candler, but she found her true professional calling in the kitchen, working for over 25 years as a cook at the Ford Motor Company. For Nellie, food was love. She was renowned for making the best Polish cuisine for her family, ensuring every gathering was rich with tradition and warmth. Her hobbies included tending her beloved garden, where she would pick and meticulously can the vegetables to preserve the season's bounty.
Above all, Nellie’s greatest joy was her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to her, and she dedicated herself to helping them in any way she could throughout their lives. She also cherished visits and time spent with her nieces and nephews.
Nellie is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of over 60 years, Stanley Gwozdek, her parents, and her siblings.
Her Family... She will be deeply missed by her two twin daughters: Mary Ann Clark (James) and Sharon Gwozdek. Nellie’s legacy of love continues through her cherished grandchildren, Christopher Parr (Kelly) and Rachael Hojnowski (Benjamin), and her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Owen, Danny, and Diana. She is also survived by her ‘bonus’ grandchildren, Chelsea Root (Jeramia) and Heather Gardner (Matthew), and ‘bonus’ great-grandchildren, Maggie and Bre.
