His Legacy…Norbert George Rickelmann, 93, passed away October 12, 2025. He was born on October 28, 1931, in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Andrew and Bertha (Rebman) Rickelmann. Norbert married the love of his life, Mary Clute, on June 28, 1958, in Alpena, Michigan. Norbert proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years. After his military service, he worked as an engineer for Michigan Bell for 34 years. Early in his career, he helped to construct the Distant Early Warning System (DEW Line) in the Northern Arctic Region of Canada. This system helped to detect Soviet bombers. Norbert was committed to his church and was very kind and giving. He was always willing to help someone in need. Norbert was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Pinckney American Legion. He was a proud and lifelong Michigan fan. He took great joy in helping his children complete home renovation projects. He was always up for a road trip, whether local or cross country. He was a joy to know and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Most of all, Norbert loved spending time with his family, and he adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His Family… Norbert will be missed by his wife, Mary Rickelmann; his children, Andy (Lori Strickland) Rickelmann, Fred (Cathy) Rickelmann, Ginny (Rick) Pearson, Linda (Sandy) Showalter, Kathleen (Tom) Przybylski; siblings, Edwin Rickelmann, Mary Lou (Bob) Kramer; grandchildren, Abbey (Erich) Eckley, Drew (Liz Strauss) Rickelmann, Jack Rickelmann, Taylor (Scott) Randall, Ethan (Alyssa) Rickelmann, Troy Rickelmann, Kyle Rickelmann, Erika (Sam Smith) Stroman, Liz (Eric) Beach, Ginger (Alex) Asbury, Clark (Megan) Pearson, Hope Showalter, Cheryl Showalter, Allison Przybylski, Erin Przybylski; great-grandchildren, Addie Randall, Kaiya Randall, Claire Stroman, Hunter Stroman, Hunter Smith, Dawson Coulter, Easton Coulter, Finlee Coulter, Grant Coulter, Makayla Beach, Addison Beach, Wyatt Beach, Franklin Asbury, Oden Asbury, Emma Asbury, Parker Pearson, Maeve Pearson, with 2 more on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Bertha Rickelmann; and siblings, Elmer, Bernard, James, Richard, Ruth, Thomas, Joan and Dolores.
His Farewell… Norbert’s family and friends will gather Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 4PM-8PM (7PM Rosary) at Borek Jennings Funeral Homes, Hamburg, Michigan. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 11AM (10AM gathering), at St. Mary Catholic Church, Pinckney, Michigan. Father Brendan Walsh will serve as Presider. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary Catholic Church or Friends of Seney Wildlife Refuge.
