Norbert A Zonca, D.D.S. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 26, 2022. He was predeceased by Charles, Mary and Martin Zonca.
He has had many great relatives, colleagues and friends.
Norb graduated from the University of Detroit High School and the University of Detroit Dental School. He was a practicing dentist in Hartland for 37 years after teaching at the dental school for several years. In 1986, he achieved a Fellowship Award from the Academy of General Dentistry. He also received the “Pinnacle” Award from the Livingston District Dental Society. Norb and Mary Ann built and managed the Trillium Professional Center in Hartland and were members of the Hartland Chamber of Commerce.
Norb served as President of the Livingston District Dental Society, the Cromaine Library Board and the McPherson/Livingston Hospital Board. He also volunteered for the St. John the Baptist Parish Council and Building Committee.
As he neared retirement, Norb began utilizing his dental skills in elaborate woodcarving and woodworking projects. He crafted an amazing array of furniture and wildlife carvings. Much of his work received recognition at multiple shows and contests, including a best of show award in 2018 at the SW Florida Wood Art Show.
Norb had a passion for nature and the great outdoors. He took great joy in sharing this passion, and teaching his kids and grandkids how to hunt, fish, and enjoy all of nature’s beauty. Norb’s favorite place of all was the family cabin in Canada. Many of our best family memories were created there. We enjoyed many wonderful trips across this great country, including another of Norb’s favorite places - Yellowstone National Park.
We will miss you dearly Norb.
