His Legacy… Paul Edward Siivola, 77, passed away January 21, 2021. He was born on November 28, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan to Ralph and Marie (VanGammeren) Siivola. Paul married the love of his life, Carolyn Couza, on June 25, 1966, in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Paul proudly served in the United States Coast Guard from 1962 to 1966 also stationed in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He spent 20 years as a maintenance worker for St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Hospital, doing everything from repairing beds, to electrical work to keeping the kitchen equipment working. Paul raised Black Angus beef cattle for over 50 years. He loved to watch old movies, and volunteer at the soup kitchen at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. A member of Hardy United Methodist Church, he also recorded their weekly worship services. He will be remembered as a hard worker, who was always ready to help someone in need. Family was important to Paul, and he cherished his time with them. Paul lived a life of faith, integrity, generosity, and love, that serves as an example to all that knew him.
His Family… Paul will be missed by his wife, Carolyn Siivola; children, Edward Siivola, Sonja (William) Priest; grandchildren, Elijah Siivola, Savannah Siivola, Paul Siivola; siblings, Dennis Siivola, Daniel (Ann Cook) Siivola, Stephen Siivola, Carl (Pamela) Siivola; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Marie Siivola; and brother Donald Siivola.
His Farewell… Paul’s family will gather privately at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Howell Chapel. His Community Farewell will be held at a time to be determined. He will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hardy United Methodist Church.
