His Legacy… Phillip Leonard Davidson, 83, passed away on June 5, 2026. He was born on February 18, 1943, in Escanaba, Michigan to James and Esther (Stade) Davidson. Phillip married the love of his life, Ann Emberts, on August 2nd, 1969, in Reese, Michigan. Phillip was born and raised in Escanaba, Michigan, where he graduated from Escanaba High School, where he developed a lifelong love of sports and learning. Following graduation, he attended Michigan Technological University, playing football for two years before transferring to Central Michigan University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in education and began preparing for a career that would become his life's calling. began his teaching career with the South Lyon School District, where he quickly earned the respect and admiration of students and colleagues alike. He later moved to the Whitmore Lake School District, where he spent many years teaching at the high school level and helping shape the lives of young people both in and out of the classroom. He was a passionate coach who devoted countless hours to developing student athletes and teaching the values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. He served as a JV Football Coach at South Lyon High School, a Varsity Football Coach at Whitmore Lake High School, and coached girls’ softball, where he became affectionately known as "Mr. D." to many of his players. After retiring from high school teaching in 1995, Phillip’s commitment to education remained strong. He continued teaching at Washtenaw Community College for another 13 years, sharing his knowledge, wisdom, and enthusiasm with a new generation of students. Even during retirement, he remained active in coaching girls’ softball, continuing to influence the lives of young athletes through his leadership and dedication. Away from the classroom and the sidelines, he found joy on the golf course. will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to education, his passion for coaching, his sense of humor, and the countless lives he touched throughout his remarkable career. His legacy lives on in the students he inspired, the athletes he coached, and the many friends and family members who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

His Family… Phillip will be missed by his wife; Ann Davidson and sister-in-law Judy Davidson. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Esther Davidson and his sister, 4 brothers and nieces and nephews.

His Farewell…Phillip’s Community Farewell will be on Saturday, June 13th, 2026, from 2:00PM (11:00AM-2:00PM gathering), at Borek Jennings Funeral Homes, Hamburg, Michigan. Chaplin Brett Bartlett will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Croix Hospice-Brighton or Whitmore Lake High School Athletic Department.
