Richard Lowe Obituary

His Legacy… Richard Calvin Lowe, 88, passed away May 5, 2025.  He was born on August 3, 1936, in South Clinton, Tennessee, to Willie and Lorene (Braden) Lowe. Richard married the love of his life, Josephine Reynoso, on May 7, 1960, in Topeka, Kansas. Richard will be remembered as a humble and steady man who dedicated his life to serving others. His journey of service began when he was drafted into the U.S. Navy, later continuing his military commitment by transferring to the U.S. Air Force. After his time in the armed forces, Richard went on to serve nearly 30 years as a firefighter—first protecting the communities of Topeka, Kansas, and later continuing his career in Ann Arbor, Michigan. His family describes him simply as a good man who never complained and lived each day with quiet integrity. Richard deeply loved his wife Josephine and all of his family—and if you were a friend of Richard’s, he treated you like family too. His legacy of devotion, humility, and public service will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

His Family… Richard will be missed by his children, Scott (Linda) Lowe and Steven (Jerilyn) Lowe; brother, Steve (Carol) W. Lowe; grandchildren, Angelina Lowe, Elizabeth (Matt) Farber, Travis (Laura) Lowe; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Lowe, Nathan Lowe, Madison Farber, Brayden Farber; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Josephine Lowe; his parents, Willie and Lorene Lowe; and his step-father, Curtis Upchurch.

His Farewell… Richard’s family and friends will gather Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. His Community Farewell Service will follow at 6:00 PM. A burial and committal will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Old St. Patrick's Cemetery in Ann Arbor Michigan.
