Olsen, Richard
Pinckney, MI
His Legacy… Richard Sattem Olsen, 79, passed away on March 4, 2025. He was born on March 11, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan to James Olsen and Berntine (Sattem) Olsen. Rich married the love of his life, Karen Souder, on September 16, 1977, in Warren, Michigan. Rich was a proud Vietnam Vet who served in the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division for two years. He spent his career with Michigan CAT for 36 years. Rich was a committed family man, he adored his wife, children and grandchildren. He had unwavering faith in his children and was always present at their events. Rich had a great dry sense of humor that he passed down to his children. He loved to tell “tall tales”, he was a great storyteller. People would always ask “was that true or one of your stories”? He would give a different answer every time that someone would ask how he and his wife met; he enjoyed making people laugh. Rich was incredibly smart and was the king of trivial pursuit. He was always teaching and was very patient. Rich never stepped down from helping others, he had a big heart. He was a member of People’s Church in Pinckney. Rich will be remembered as being the best man ever to his family and he will be deeply missed.
