His Legacy… Richard “Dick” Theodore Spiegel, 87, passed away on February 28, 2026. He was born on February 27, 1939, in Hamtramck, Michigan, to Ted Spiegel and Irene (Gumienna) Spiegel. On December 21, 1996, Richard married his wife, Virginia “Ginger” (Poirier) Spiegel, in Pontiac, Michigan. Dick will be fondly remembered for the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures. He was an enthusiastic shopper, dedicated collector, and he enjoyed making soups and sharing them. Dick’s love of nature was evident in his passion for hunting and fishing. He especially loved his dogs. He found great enjoyment in feeding and watching birds, faithfully keeping his outdoor feeders filled year-round. Dick also took great pride in his remarkable cactus collection, most of them coming from Arizona. When he discovered a new cactus, he simply had to have it.
His Family… Dick will be missed by his wife, Ginger; his son, David and daughter-in-law Judi, and their family: Dick’s grandson, David (Hannah) and great grandson, Oliver; grandchildren, Andrew, Brooke, and Jason. He is also survived by his children, Richard, Steve (Laurie), Danny, Laura (Rick) Tribble, David (Julie) Lothamer; nephew, Michael (Karen) Somerville; and many additional grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his late wife, Joanne; parents, Ted and Irene Spiegel, and his sister, Bernadette (John).
