Wolanski, Richard
Dexter, MI
His Legacy… Richard Bruno Wolanski, 87, passed away June 2, 2026. He was born on July 7, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan to Alfred Wolanski and Anna (Stasko) Wolanski. Richard married the love of his life, Sara Policicchio, on June 18, 1960, in Livonia, Michigan. Richard was a proud metallurgist, he spent 65+ years with Huron Valley Steel Corporation, a company that he helped build. He was incredibly intelligent, and somehow, always right. Richard enjoyed being out on the water and boating. Suttons Bay was his favorite summer spot in the sun; his favorite winter spot was Naples, Florida. He named his boat Samarda, after his beloved wife and sons. He loved to grocery shop, cook on the grill and take his family to breakfast. Richard loved routine and enjoyed vanilla bean ice cream and a good gin and tonic. He hosted family reunions at Weber’s for over 20 years and loved celebrating family milestones. Richard was tremendously proud of his family and very generous with his grandchildren. He was so grateful for the life that he built with Sara; he loved nothing more than her. Richard was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather; he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
His Family… Richard will be missed by his wife, Sara Wolanski; his children, Mark (Susan) Wolanski, Daniel (Jenny) Wolanski; grandchildren, Logan Wolanski, Dustin Wolanski, Taylor Wolanski, Ryan (Claire) Stewart; great- grandchildren, Liliana Stewart, Larkin Stewart; sister-in-law, Mary Briglio and her family; and brother-in-law, Ronald (Judi) Policicchio and their family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Anna Wolanski; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Warren and Verna Policicchio.
