His Legacy… Robert Edward Barba, 76, passed away May 19, 2022. He was born on February 5, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to Harold Barba and Valeria (Zakrzewski) Barba. Bob married the love of his life, Lorraine Puroll, on November 29, 1968, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Detroit, Michigan. Bob was known for his great sense of humor, love of music, and sharp sense of style. He graduated from St. Stanislaus High School, where he was valedictorian and president of the student council. Bob was an avid golfer, but he also enjoyed many other activities such as baseball, basketball, and boating. He loved vacationing anywhere, and most especially in New York. Bob was also very active in charity work. He volunteered at Camp Catch a Rainbow, a camp for child cancer patients, and also at his church, St. Mary Catholic Church. As a member of the Knights of Columbus, he would organize the annual parish golf outings. His family fondly remembers his pontoon boat, Boblo on Portage Lake, of which he was “Captain Bob”, which he named after himself and his wife Lorraine. He was a mentor to many, and a friend to all who knew him. Most of all, Bob loved his family, and would always put them first in his life. He will be greatly missed.
