Romalia, Robert
Brighton, MI
His Legacy… Robert Joseph Romalia, 87, passed away November 11, 2023. He was born on March 11, 1936, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to August Romalia and Jean (Bartoli) Romalia. He grew up in Marblehead, Wisconsin, and graduated from Marquette University in 1958. After college, Bob was drafted into the army and served in Korea until 1962 when he was honorably discharged. Bob met and married MaryAnn in 1966. Bob and MaryAnn loved to joke and tease each other, and Bob could never get enough of her cooking, especially her “monies” pasta and meatballs. They lived in Minnesota until December of 1986 when Bob took a job at Alexander Hamilton Life Insurance and the family moved to Brighton, Michigan. Bob enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers play every Sunday with his family. Despite moving to Michigan, they all remain devoted Cheeseheads. He also loved to garden and passed this love on to his sons, both of whom hope to one day have a garden as big as their dad’s. Bob retired from Jackson National Insurance in 2000. In retirement he enjoyed golfing, especially with Brad; bowling; and spending time with his family. He was also a longtime active member of the Knights of Columbus. In 2008, Bob welcomed Debra into the family (despite the fact she was a Lions fan). Bob and Debra enjoyed a playful relationship, especially during Thanksgiving football games. In 2012, Bob was blessed with a granddaughter who from the moment he met her held a special place in his heart. Bob loved reading to Grace when she was younger and as she got older, they could often be found gardening together. Bob was adored by his family and will be deeply missed.
His Family… Bob will be missed by his wife, MaryAnn Romalia; his sons, Bart (Erin) Romalia, Brad (Debra) Romalia; granddaughter, Grace. He is preceded in death by his parents, August and Jean Romalia.
His Farewell… Bob’s family and friends will gather for a Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 10:30AM (9:30AM gathering), at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Brighton, Michigan. Memorial Contributions are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Please leave a message of comfort for Bob’s family at 1-877-231-7900, or sign his guestbook at www.borekjennings.com.
