His Legacy… Russell Lee Barker Jr., 59, passed away January 20, 2026. He was born on July 12, 1966, in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Russell Barker and Paula (Scheffler) Barker. Russell married the love of his life, Sheri Dugas on January 15, 1994, in Brighton, Michigan. Russ spent his 31-year career as a machine builder with Comau in Novi. He was a sports fanatic and a big fan of U of M, and the Detroit Lions and Tigers. Russ enjoyed deer hunting and fishing; he took a yearly hunting trip up north with his close friends. He loved being poolside and playing cornhole with his family and friends. Russ enjoyed traveling out West to Yellowstone and Glacier National Park where many wonderful memories were made. Russ had a big personality and had a great sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh, and one time surprised a friend for her birthday by arriving at her party dressed as Hulk Hogan. He was a great friend to everyone, and he loved and adored his wife and children. Russ was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

His Family… Russ will be missed by his wife, Sheri Barker; his children, Alexander (Brittney) Barker, Emily (Matthew Huetsch) Barker, Tyler (Mikayla Renko) Barker; father, Russell (Marsha) Barker, mother, Paula Deaton; sisters, Mindy (Jay) Schick, Patty (Wade) Ortwine; step-brother, Tommy Talbot; nieces, Addison Schick, Lisa (Kevin) Martin, Christina Balog, Tiffany Certain, Tia Talbot; nephews, Mike (Ashlee) Tyler, Tom Talbot; mother-in-law, Suzanne Dugas; sister-in-law, Dawn (Wilfred) Hamer; nephews, Anthony Hamer, and Nicholas Hamer. He is preceded in death by his step-father, Tim Deaton; step-mother, Linda Barker; step-sister, Karen Talbot; step-brother, Jimmy Talbot; and father-in-law, Michael Dugas.

His Farewell…Russ’s Community Farewell will take place on Monday January 26, 2026, at 6:00PM (4:00PM gathering) at Borek Jennings Funeral Homes, Hamburg, Michigan. Chaplain Dwight Murphy will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions can be made to Trinity Health at Home Hospice.
