His Legacy… Russell Robert Clark, 71, passed away May 9, 2026. He was born on March 5, 1955, in Lapeer, Michigan to Glenn Clark and Joan (Dodge) Clark. Russell married the love of his life, Debra Kay Smith, on July 5, 1980, in Livonia, Michigan.
He will be remembered as for being a funny, caring, and loving man. Russell was a storyteller; he loved to share his experiences with anyone around. When he got going, you often had to wait for a pause to jump in! If you settled in and listened, you’d realize that his stories always exemplified good morals and you’d walk away having learned something.
Russell was also incredibly musically inclined, as far back as a teenager he played the drums in a band. He also had a passion for playing the guitar and recently began learning piano. Cars were another passion of his, he loved hot rods, especially his ’68 Cheville. You could often find him working on his car, painting, and of course, racing.
Most of all, Russell will be remembered for his heart. Russell was genuinely a good person, spending his spare time helping his friends and his community. He’d often help his neighbors and fellow church members, utilizing the skills he learned from his career as a builder to make repairs around their homes. It was clear that Russell cared for those around him deeply, and the love he held for his family and friends will never be forgotten.
His Family… Russell will be missed by his wife, Debra Clark; his children, Devin Clark & Amy Clark; siblings, Alan Clark & Lynn Clark; grandchildren, Kurt, Evan, Rylynn, Hunter, Sophia, & Lydia; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn & Joan Clark.
His Farewell… Russell’s family and friends will gather on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Borek Jennings Funeral Home in Howell, Michigan. Gathering will take place from 10:00AM until his Community Farewell at 12:00PM. Reverend Brian Johnson will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Assistance Fund.
