His Legacy… Russell Jax Johnson, 14, passed away November 13, 2021. He was born on October 21, 2007, in Howell, Michigan to Bob Timothy Johnson and Jill Elizabeth Mackenzie. Jax entered the world as a warrior facing adversity at every turn. He spent the first few weeks of his life fighting the odds stacked against him in the NICU. Jax would go on to prove the doctors wrong and show us all what a true life Avenger looks like. He had many surgeries and procedures throughout his young life and always came out on top crushing expectations, which is how he earned the nickname Iron Man. Jax had a deep love for all things Marvel and Disney and got to experience a week long Make-A-Wish trip to Disney World and Universal Studios in 2015 with his family. There he got to take a safari, ride the magic carpets, meet superheroes a plenty, pick out his very own Harry Potter wand, dress like a pirate, watch parades and fireworks and most importantly say hi to Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy. He also loved the Detroit Tigers and was able to go to several games and even got to meet his favorite player Nick Castellanos. Jax also loved animals dearly and they loved him right back just as fiercely. You would always find his two dogs Izzy and Zoey snuggled up by his side and his cats Woody, Buzz and Nyx close by. Jax was a beacon of love and light that brought people together with his exuberant laugh and his megawatt smile. You couldn’t help but be the best version of yourself around him as he always called forth your kindness, love, hope and determination.

His Family… Jax will be missed by his parents. He is survived by his great grandmother Catherine Hines. His grandparents Bruce & Terri Mackenzie and Jack & Anita Johnson. His aunts Valarie Roberts, Lynne Hines, Elizabeth Hines, Kristin Mackenzie, Trinity Castle, Shelby Roberts, Julianne Klucka, Margie Radabaugh, and Amy Lauer. His uncles Rob Hines, Rusty Hines, Travis Roberts, Jeremy Hines, Brian Lauer; and many cousins.

His Farewell… Jax’s family and friends will gather Friday, November 19, 2021, from 4pm-8pm at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel.
