His Legacy… Santiago Plata, Jr., 44, beloved father, son, and companion passed away suddenly January 13, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. He was born in California to Santiago and Mary (Gonzalez) Plata.   He will be remembered as a man that loved his family, especially his son Jaidan. Santiago treasured being able to hunt and fish at or near his parent’s home with his loved ones.  He enjoyed attending sporting events and spending time with Christina, their son and stepchildren.  He relished the freedom of riding  his Harley Davidson while taking in the fresh air and sights. He continues his family’s legacy of organ donation as he himself was a “Gift of Life” donor.

He is survived by  his loving companion, Christina Mason; his son, Jaidan Plata and Christina’s children, Jena (daughter Avery), Aubrianna and Conner; his parents Santiago and Mary, brother, Juan Carlos; grandfather Gonzalo Gonzalez, grandmother Beatriz Plata, aunts and uncles, Maricela (Rajiv) Varma, Oscar (Alicia) Plata, Marta (Rogelio) Ramirez, Noelia (Alfred) Montanez, Lionel (Sylvia) Plata, Veronica (John) Hanzak, Gonzalo (Lorri) Gonzalez, Nellie (Troy) Highsmith, Sylvia (Jose Luis) Garza, Ricardo (Josephine) Gonzalez, Diana (Carlos) Gonzalez and Ruben (Yvette) Gonzalez; and many extended family members. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Elena Gonzalez, grandfather Porfirio Plata and uncle Rene Gonzalez.

Santiago’s loved ones’ hearts are forever broken and their lives forever changed.
He is already missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 10:00 am at Ste. Anne de Detroit Catholic Church 1000 Ste.
