Shawn Edward Smego

His Legacy… Shawn Edward Smego, age 50, passed away May 8, 2021. He was born on June 22, 1970 in Cleveland, OH to Joseph and Cecelia (Abrahms) Smego and grew up in Lakewood, OH. A graduate of Lakewood High School (1988) he went on to attend the Pennsylvania State University, graduating in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. At Penn State he met the love of his life, Lisa Simmermon, and they were married on August 24^th, 1996 in Niagara Falls, NY. He had a life-long love for Ford Mustangs, especially his 1978 Mustang II King Cobra, which has been his project car since he was 18 years old. He loved being a father and was extremely involved in his children’s activities as they were growing up. His career at Marquardt Switches, Inc. provided him the fortunate opportunity to travel all over the world and meet many people. Shawn was very mechanically inclined as he could fix or build anything, and he enjoyed doing projects around his home. 

His Family… Shawn leaves behind his wife, Lisa; son, Gage and daughter, Quinne. He is also survived by his parents; siblings, Gina Reagan (Bill) and Sherry Smego (Mike). His nieces Nicole and Courtney, as well as his nephew Joshua (Sara) and grandniece Isabelle, many family members on the Simmermon side, and numerous friends. 

His Farewell… Shawn’s Community Farewell will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021. Visitation will be from 10am to 1pm. Funeral service will start at 1pm. A go fund me account has been made for Shawn’s family. Please leave a message of comfort for Shawn’s family at 1-877-231-7900, or sign his guestbook at www.borekjennings.com.
