Steven Wilkinson Obituary

Wilkinson, Steve W.

Howell, Michigan

His Legacy… Steven William Wilkinson, 71, unexpectedly passed away on May 29, 2026, in the house he made a home with his wife and children. He was born on May 6, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan, to Frank and Carol (Dillon) Wilkinson.

As a young man, Steve quickly developed a passion for sports, especially baseball, often reminding his daughter that the year she was born was one of the best of his life, as it was the last time the Detroit Tiger’s won a World Series. At a Fourth of July party attended by many of his friends, Steve met the love of his life, Constance Theriault. Steve and Connie married on October 3, 1981, in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

A meat cutter by trade for many years, he continued this tradition by processing deer for family and friends. Steve also worked for Ford Motor Company for more than 25 years, commuting from Howell to Dearborn each day. He was chronically punctual, a trait not shared by his wife, much to his chagrin. Lore (and reality) has it that he once drove halfway to work before realizing he had forgotten something, returned home, and still made it to work half an hour early.

An avid collector of coins, he also loved gardening and was generous with his harvest, freely sharing vegetables with family, friends, and neighbors. Whether he was gardening, meticulously mowing his lawn, or playing sports, he did not need much of a reason to spend time outdoors on a sunny day to work on his tan.

Fastidious about his appearance, he never left the house without a button-up shirt and a brush in his pocket.

Steve had a sharp wit, jokes always at the ready.

Above all, Steve was a loyal and generous friend who loved his family deeply. He had great pride in his children, Jesse and Meghann. Inspired by Steve’s example, they stand on the shoulders of a man dedicated to providing a life he had always dreamed of for them. His family was his mission, his life, and he wasn’t shy to tell them just how proud he was.

His Family… Steve will be missed by his loving wife, Connie Wilkinson; his children, Meghann Wilkinson and Jesse (Emily) Wilkinson; siblings, Michele (Bill) Sage, Lori Wilkinson, and David Wilkinson; brothers-in-law, Dan (Clara) Theriault, Matt (Rebecca) Theriault, Nick (Lu) Theriault; mother-in-law Marlene Theriault; sister-in-law, Terry (Joe) Macay; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Carol Wilkinson; sister, Irene Wilkinson; brother, Danny Wilkinson; father-in-law Daniel (Butch) Theriault; and brother-in-law, Chris Theriault.

His Farewell… Steve’s family and friends will gather on June 8th, 2026, from 3 PM to 7 PM, at Borek Jennings Funeral Homes in Howell, Michigan. His Community Farewell will directly follow the gathering, starting at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Arbor Day Foundation, or the Franciscan Outreach Program (Church of the Transfiguration), WEB address and instructions below. Please leave a message of comfort for Steve's family at 1-877-231-7900, or sign his guestbook at www.borekjennings.com.
