Her Legacy… Susan Marie Long, 44, passed away surrounded by loved ones on September 12, 2025.  She was born on April 4, 1981, in Detroit, Michigan to Robert Giza and Gail A. (Patrick) Giza. Susan graduated from Divine Child High School in Dearborn, Michigan in 1999. She attended Dental School at the University of Detroit Mercy, graduating in 2005 with a DDS degree.  Susan did her residency in oral surgery at U of M Hospital, Ann Arbor and completed a forensic dentistry program from the Wayne County Morgue.  Susan married the love of her life, Robert Long, on October 8, 2005, at St. Anne Catholic Church on Mackinac Island. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother who loved spending time with her family as demonstrated by bird walks with the kids, and going rock hunting up at Lake Michigan and Lake Superior.  Susan cherished family berry picking excursions, going to the zoo and being involved with her children in 4-H Club.  Giving her children real world, educational experiences were her mission and helped them appreciate life in the great outdoors. Susan was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and, a member of the Michigan Dental Association under the Livingston District Dental Society.  Previously she was an active member of the Detroit District Dental Society.

Her Family… Susan will be dearly missed by her husband Rob; her children, Amelia, Alice, Abigail, Henry, Adeline, Rosalie; parents, Robert and Gail Giza; Spouse’s parents, Robert and Rhonda Long; siblings, Sarah Ann (Brian) Scantamburlo, Elizabeth Jean (Andrew) Bloomfield; her spouse’s sister, Carisa Long; niece, Sophie Bloomfield, nephews, Gianluca and Paolo Scantamburlo, and Clint and George Bloomfield, all to whom she was known as Auntie Susie; uncle, Ronald (the late MaryLee (O’Polka) Giza and many dear friends.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Florian and Sophie Giza, and George and Edna Kingsbury.  

Her Career… Susan practiced dentistry at various dental offices in southeast Michigan until opening her own private practice in 2012 at Henry Ford Village in Dearborn, now known as Allegria Village.  She loved her career in dentistry and derived much satisfaction from helping her patients, looking out for their dental health and well-being. 

Her Farewell… Susan’s family and friends will gather 12:00–8:00 PM (Rosary at 7:00 PM), on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Howell, Michigan. She will lie in state Thursday, September 18, 2005 at 10:00 AM and her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Howell, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Clint McDonell will serve as celebrant.  A private burial will be held at St. Hedwig Cemetery, Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
