Her Legacy… Susan Elaine Schuster, age 75, passed away December 25, 2022. She was born on August 20, 1947 in Hamtramck, MI to John and Janet (Wolford) Doege. Su, as she was known to family and friends, was a woman of strong Christian faith. Her favorite saying was “In all things give thanks.” She loved to travel with Mike, her husband of 55 years. Trips included Germany, China (with her sisters), Okinawa, Hawaii, and all over the continental United States. Su and Mike also lived in Las Vegas for a few years. She was a registered nurse for over 30 years. She worked in Intensive Care, Rehab, Operating Room, Recovery, Home-Care, and Hospice. She was also a clinical instructor for Eastern Michigan University. She was a very discerning person and masterful negotiator. She had a quick wit with a fearless spirit that led to many lasting memories for her family.
As a grandmother, Su was known for her enthusiastic cheering of “Way to go Schuster!” that could be heard all over the ballpark at her grandsons baseball games. Su was a gifted quilter, making many quilts for cancer and veteran charities. Most of her quilts were made for family and friends. Su loved her pets, most recently Mylo, a shih-poo dog who misses her dearly. Su was a light to others and had a gift for making people feel special when they were with her.
Her Family… Su will be missed by her husband, Mike; children, Michial (Carol) Schuster, Aimee Su (Kevin) Orme, Jon (Kristin) Schuster; and grandchildren, Michial, Cameron, Ian, Emerson, and Finley. She is also survived by siblings, Patricia (Ray) Bayma, Karin (Ken) Siebenrock, and Kathy Pardee. Su is preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Doug Doege.
Her Farewell… Su’s Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to be determined. Su had requested that any memorial contributions be given to Samaritan’s Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org).
