Her Legacy… Sylvia Lucile West, 96, passed away October 1, 2023.  She was born on March 1, 1927, in Platte Center, Nebraska to Walter Lobdell and Katherine (Ebel) Lobdell. Sylvia married the love of her life, Donald West, in 1946, they were married for 50 wonderful years.  Sylvia will be remembered as a marvelous lady who loved to laugh. She stayed busy, enjoying trips to the casino and traveling around the world with her daughter, Donna. She was fiercely independent and very active at the Hamburg Senior Center where she had many friends. Sylvia was a wonderful listener and gave great advice. She had a quiet, sweet and kind disposition. Sylvia adored her grandchildren and was so proud of all of them. She was a blessing to all who knew her and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Her Family… Sylvia will be missed by her children, Donna (Duane) Knapp, Harrison (Linda) West; daughter-in-law, Marbeth West; grandchildren, Geoff (MaryLou) West, Tammy West, Seth Knapp, Julie (Gar) Eddings, Heather West, Autumn (Chris) Blakeman; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Dible, Kameron Dible, Brittany Knapp, Jessica Eddings, Gar Eddings Jr., Vivi Eddings, Christopher Blakeman, Jonathan Blakeman, Madison Blakeman, Sophia Blakeman. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald West; parents, Walter and Katherine Lobdell; sons, Arthur West, Dudley West; and siblings.

Her Farewell… Sylvia’s family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Life, Friday, October 20, 2023, from 5:00PM-7:00PM, at the Hamburg Senior Center, Hamburg, Michigan.  Memorial contributions can have checks made payable to Hamburg Senior Center, Arbor Hospice, or the Livingston County Veterans Affairs.
