His Legacy… Tim T. Hurst, 98, passed away July 7 2022. He was born on February 20, 1924, in Frostburg, Maryland to Creson Babcock Hurst and Dale (Smith) Hurst. Tim married the love of his life, Helen, on July 28, 1945 in East Chester, New York.
Tim will be remembered as a man of integrity who loved his family and served his church and community well. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He worked for several years in the aerospace industry before managing the facility for U of M hospital. In retirement he worked as a volunteer for Laborers for Christ, a building program of the Lutheran church.
Tim was involved with the Livingston Players a community theater group. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and taught both youth and adult Sunday school as well as a men’s bible study at his church. He and Helen also enjoyed playing bridge, square dancing and traveling. After retirement they spent several winters in sunny Arizona. When Tim moved to Independence Village in Brighton he continued to teach Bible history and did evening readings he called bedtime stories for seniors. We will all miss Tim’s loyalty, his love and his enthusiasm for life.
His Family… Tim was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Helen. He is survived by his children, Ruth Peng (Shih Chen), Eric Hurst (Judy), Peggy Hurst; grandchildren Joby Hurst (Michelle ); Great grandchildren Mason and Paxton Hurst. He is preceded in death by his brother George Hurst.
His Farewell… Tim’s family and friends will gather for a memorial service at a later date, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamburg, Michigan.
