Her Legacy… Vernona Lee Melchi, 94, passed away May 23, 2023. She was born on June 14, 1928, in Lima, Ohio to Levi Rousculp and Clementine (Bowsher) Rousculp. Vernona married the love of her life, Norman Melchi, on July 5, 1947, in Lima, Ohio. Vernona and her husband Norman enjoyed studying genealogy and often traveled together to study their family histories. She was a wonderful seamstress and often sewed her children’s clothes and beautiful curtains for her home. Vernona enjoyed art and calligraphy. She volunteered at the Henry Ford Museum, was an avid reader and enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles. Vernona was very active at Shalom Lutheran Church, she was very dedicated to her faith. Vernona was very outgoing and personable and enjoyed spending time with her family. Vernona was a joy to know and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her Family… Vernona will be missed by her children, Leonard (Andrea) Melchi, Gary (Conny) Melchi; sisters, Joyce Gossard, Lynn (Herbert) Lanker; grandchildren, Ryan (Carolann) Melchi, Rachel (Cody) Leonard, Curtis Melchi, Monica (Brian) White, Stephanie Melchi, Jeremy (Kim) Doxey, Valerie Doxey, Sally Doxey; 9 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Norman, her parents, Levi and Clementine Rousculp; daughter, Pamela Doxey, and sister, Phyllis Dearing.
Her Farewell… Vernona’s service will take place on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 5:00PM (2PM-5PM gathering), at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. Pastor Dan Quagliata will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
