Vincent Lynch Jr. Obituary

His Legacy…Vincent John Lynch Jr., 66, passed away January 14, 2024. He was born on May 6, 1957 in Albany, New York to Vincent John Lynch Sr. and Marion (Deratzian) Lynch. Vince married the love of his life, Karen Podvoyski, on July 16, 1982, in Allen Park, Michigan.

Vince will be remembered as a dedicated servant to the community of Metro Detroit. Never seeking recognition for his work, he was committed to justice and safety for vulnerable persons, touching countless lives during his career.

Initially starting his career as a Detroit firefighter and paramedic, Vince began his career as a law enforcement officer in the City of Highland Park in 1986. He spent several years on the Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) while employed at the Lathrup Village Police Department, retiring in 2015. Vince was then hired by the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office to investigate complex financial crimes. He started as a PTNE Deputy, continuing his work in NET, in April 2023.

His Family…Vince will be missed by his wife, Karen Lynch; sister, Suzanne Lynch; sister-in-law, Michele (Michael) Follbaum; nieces, Allison (Michael) Cullen; Anne Weycker; nephews, Nicholas Follbaum, Thomas Follbaum, Stephen Follbaum, Joseph Follbaum; great-nephew, Michael Cullen III. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Marion Lynch.

A faithful Catholic his whole life, Vince found a dedicated and loving church community at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Brighton. He loved history, especially local Detroit history, and spent many hours with Karen exploring antique stores and researching at book shops. He was an avid sports fan, baseball and football being his favorites, and enjoyed cheering on his nephews’ high school football team, the Washtenaw Saints. He was the most faithful purchaser of any team-branded merchandise fundraiser.

His Farewell…Vince’s family and friends will gather on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 3:00pm-8:00pm (7pm Rosary) at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 11:00am (lying in state, 10am) at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Brighton, Michigan. Father John Rocus will serve as celebrant.
