Her Legacy… Virginia Ruth Ball, age 97, passed away February 14, 2021. She was born on July 3, 1923, in Detroit, MI to Mathew and Ruth (Skinner) Geelhood. Virginia and Wayne Ball got married on October 15, 1966 in Oxford, Michigan at their home and had a Civil War wedding. Virginia’s entire life revolved around her deep Christian faith. She was involved in church throughout her life. She was active in youth ministry at Mariner Methodist Church, FL even into her 80’s. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, board games, golfing, and square dancing. She worked for the Register of Deeds in Oakland County. Following her retirement, Virginia and Wayne decided to make their principle residence where they lived most of the year. In 2009, they moved back to Michigan to be closer to family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her Family… Virginia will be missed by her children, Dennis (Jeanne) King, Nancy (Jim) Bojack, Linda (Arnold) Middleton; stepson, Tura Ball; grandchildren, Dawn (Jay), Jim, Steven (Denise), Christine (Mark); and ten great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mathew and Ruth; loving husband of 52 years, Wayne; and siblings, Leslie, Erving, Emily, and Donald.
Her Farewell… Virginia’s family and friends will gather on Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 3-5PM at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel with a Celebration of Life service at 5PM. Her Christian Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 11AM at Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Brighton, MI with a gathering beginning at 10AM until the time of service. Dennis King and Pastor Brian Tweedie will serve as celebrant. Virginia will be laid to rest at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
