His Legacy… Walter Pietras, 80, passed away May 24, 2021.  He was born on July 4, 1940, in Highland Park, Michigan to John Pietras and Julia (Popek) Pietras. Walter married the love of his life, Peggy (Luxton) Pietras, on October 6, 1984, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Brighton, Michigan.  Walter will be remembered as loving husband, father and grandfather.  He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing his saxophone, collecting, cooking and spending time with his precious puppies.  Walter could bring a smile and laugh to anyone he met and was always joking.  In his spare time, Wally loved to cut the lawn and be outside.  He had many enjoyable memories from his family vacations to Burt Lake. Mostly, Walter loved being with his family.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.   

His Family… Walter will be missed by his wife, Peggy Pietras; his children, Barbara Pietras, Sharon (Jim) Pietras Goin, Walter Pietras Jr., Shirley (Stefan) Pietras Alman, Brian Pietras, Karen (Jeff) Pietras; grandchildren, Nicole Goin, Crystal (Pete) Goin, Jordan (Brittany) Goin, Chris (Jennifer) Alman, Wyatt (Nicole) Alman, Emett (Ashley) Alman, Rose Alman, Ethan; great grandchildren, Jaxton, Maverick, Kinsley, Kali, Mason, Lydia, Haylie, Zachary; nephew, Tony (Laurie) Pietras; great niece, Sydney Pietras. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Julia Pietras; sister, Marilyn Pietras; brother, John Pietras Jr.; nephew, Danny Good.

His Farewell… Walter’s family and friends will gather Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 4:00-8:00pm at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel, Michigan. His Community Farewell will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at noon (11:00am gathering) for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10601 Dexter Pinckney Road, Pinckney, Michigan. Fr. Dan Kogut will serve as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to Humane Society of Livingston County.
