Williams, William
Howell, Michigan
His Legacy… William Banks Williams, “Bill”, 81, sadly passed away October 28, 2025. He was born February 27, 1944, in Fulton, Kentucky to William Edward Williams and Dorothy (Jones) Williams. Bill married the love of his life, Sandra Johnstone, on October 29, 1977, in Palmdale, California. He will be remembered for being a highly intelligent problem solver, with a compassionate and kind spirit. Bill was the “go to person” who had a knack for fixing things; there wasn’t a problem he couldn’t solve. Bill spent 34 years working for NASA as a Convoy Commander for the Shuttle Recovery Program. He worked on many missions such as Apollo, Sky Lab, the Space Shuttle Program, just to name a few. Bill was an integral part of many NASA missions until his retirement in 2001. He loved learning about anything related to space flight, enjoyed reading science fiction – channeling that passion into writing his own novel, and used his web development skills to build a family website.
His Family… Bill will be missed by his wife, Sandra; his son, Jonathan Williams (Max Fancher); daughter-in-law, Melissa Williams; grandchild, William Alec Williams; his beloved golden-doodles, Shlomi and Leah. He is preceded in death by his son, William Douglas Williams; parents, William and Dorothy Williams; sister, Peggy Williams.
